That is one heck of a wake-up call! Assuming that the alarm was set for 6:00 and the look on the woman's face, I'd say that the floodgates have just swung open.
Actually, a line of similar devices was developed by Bony Inc. and marketed under the name "My First Bony," targeting the young women's market. Several elite European and Japanese girl's boarding schools bought large quantities and encouraged the students to use them after a Swedish study demonstrated a strong correlation between morning sex and academic achievement. These enlightened programs were halted too soon to allow for any conclusive data, but several faculty members were said to report that there was a very noticeable decrease in disruptive behavior in their classrooms.
It only takes one rotten apple to spoil a barrel, the saying goes, and that is pretty much what happened here. A story hit the tabloids about a fifteen year old girl who was hazed by a small group of older girls by being forced to spend the night tied to her bed with her Bony switched on. Despite the fact that after thorough investigations none of the schools found any evidence of such a thing happening, pressure from parents and conservative community groups forced the schools to abandon these programs.
On a side-note, there were several fatalities attributed to these programs. In Lyons an elderly handyman suffered a heart attack in the attic of a girl's dorm, where he apparently spied on the girls through small peep-holes he had drilled through the ceiling. In Osaka, three sixteen year old boys were electrocuted when the ladder they had climbed in order to peer into the windows of a girl's dorm fell across a high-tension power line. The only other fatality was Bony, which when faced with the sudden loss of revenue found it impossible to service the debt they had incurred in the process of expanding production and were forced to close.
